I appreciate everyone who has followed me graciously in the past 10 years, but it is time for me close the book on this account and rediscover who I am. I will be retaining all the work currently here because it's an apparent remnant of my artistic history. Even though I grow weary and embarrassed of many of my older works, I know there are fans here who are still genuine appreciators of these works. Thank you for being my fans!

Goodbye shiawase-chan!

Hi all who still roam these empty streets, if you'd like to see more progressive works and blogs, please follow me on blogger!

huaartbin.blogspot.com/

I just ranted on blogspot that my work is getting more and more lifeless as I continue to draw. Worse, I've also become bored of what I've been drawing and it's hard to push myself to try something new when I open a sketchbook. I'm not sure what hinders me from doing it these days. I believe it's a messy conglomerate of laziness, too much time spent on a social life, fear of wasting precious art supplies with ugly drawings, not living in a artsy fartsy city with a community of artsy fartsy people, distractions of other tasks I want or need to complete first, and just plain loss of childhood imagination.

But I'm done giving myself room for excuses, I want to be truly proud of myself. I need to stop pretending to be humble and truly become humble.

I've definitely lost a lot of followers because of my inability to draw stuff and update regularly, but I also think I've been on the fence about starting up a new dA or just sticking with one that already has history. I also think I may have lost fans not only because there's tons of other better proactive artists to watch, but because my work has changed drastically since I started. Man did people love Naruto back in the day!

I went through a huge series of pretty detailed ladies and claimed them as my style and I still kind of do, but I want to change my style again not only much more drastically, but also in many different styles. Albeit it be realistic or cartoon stylized or maybe even abstract, but I want to try to alienate myself from the anime-style I grew up on. Only now do I truly understand why instructors dislike the anime direction. By  just imitating the drawings I saw, I never truly learned the foundations of art, so I've trapped myself into a corner.

So I declared a New Year's resolution that I will complete at least one sketchbook and a traditional painting every month, and etc etc. Now I want to ask you guys here what you think I could do to improve myself in the next year. I've been trying to pick up on drawing more often in my free time while watching stuff, but mostly drawing from life or experimenting with different styles. I'd like more creative input now.

What kinds of activities/tasks/challenged do you guys propose for yourself to get your creative juices flowing? I've always liked the projects from school that other people had in Sequential Art that involved scenarios that each person would interpret differently or coming up with the first 3 things in your head to mesh together. I'd like to try something like that? If you have any cool links or forums of something like that, please share! I may try one of those 100 theme challenges too if I can't find anything else.

For more specific stuff I'd like to improve. I want to get better at good character design. I'm a little stronger with this than anything else other than maybe illustration? I'd also love to learn more concept designing with props and environments. I'm extremely weak at environment and backgrounds both technically and creatively lol. Please help.

I'd also appreciate any critique you want to throw at me on my art as an overall. I may or may not agree, but I would love to hear other's true thoughts. Although I appreciate the positive feedback, I'd love to hear the flips side for once.

Another question I just thought of! Do you think it would be better for me to post rough drawings up or should I keep it portfolio worthy on here?

I'd appreciate any thoughts you guys have! Thank you for reading. :)

Pretty happy that I did pretty well at Animefest! All the hard work paid off! I didn't end up selling as much Sailor Moon stuff as I was hoping for, but I think I made good buck for one con~

The Art Show was AMAZING!! My friends last minute told me where it was happening so I went on over to take a peek. One of my pieces sold for $300! The thrill of the bidding was so intense!! I flailed pretty hard :DD. I'm really glad I was there to witness it! I hope my benefactor enjoys his new piece of work.

So back to job searching and real life stuff. Really just want to sit around doing fun crafty things. Inspired by all the other artists at the con *-*

I will be getting ready to sell stuff on my etsy account to get rid of excess con stock of all my crafts, so watch out for that!

So I'll be going to AnimeFest in a couple of weeks. I wanted to prep up some stuff to sell. What are some popular things that are being sold these days? I feel like when I used to sell more crafty items, I profitted better. I've been reducing my merchandise to 8.5 x 11 prints but it's not selling amazingly on it's own. Usually I figure commissions rack in the most money so I will be taking on tons more of that.

Give me your ideas on the following merchandise:

Prints: Would people rather own 8.5 x 11 prints or poster sizes like 11x17? Also, are 4x6 photo size ones selling okay?

Buttons: Collections of a series and cute stuff usually do well for me. Are chibis the big thing? Sayings? What's the big thing? I know my normal artwork doesn't sell that well.

Commissions: I hear having cheap quick sketches are stuff people look for. When I sold mine for $5, I've had times where I couldn't leave the table because they kept coming, so I rose the price up to $10. But I've also had experiences in other cons where sketches just did NOT sell even at $5. What's a good price-range? I think I've tried $8 before, but I like increments of $5 better (for some reason, it feels cheaper to me)

Crafty Stuff: Craft stuff to me sells really well, but they're a little more time-consuming per item, so I stopped making it.

My cupcake rings sold really well, but they're kind of a pain to make because of the fumes lasting forever (I've heard horror stories with them). Plus the glue sometimes did not hold well on the base, so I spent a lot of extra time fixing stuff. Maybe I will try again later. (fav.me/d288lmi)

I had some dumpling plushes that were pretty fast to make that I could potentially bring back. I also had cute sushi ones that I wished I kept one. I thought I did :/ But I'm not sure if I'll have a lot of time to prep this time around, but any suggestions would be great!

:star: Let me know your experiences in the artist alley as well as what you would like to see. ;D

I just purchased the 22HD cintiq and I will be doing tons more work. If not, I will kick myself in the face >:/ Trying to justify the damage to my bank account. HWAITING!!

Oh, also if you would like to contribute! I have prints for sale!! Essentially I can print anything in my gallery, but I will let you know if something is unavailable.
